Introduction:  You will be reading a story about a boy named Alex who lives in Alaska.  You will learn how he spends his summer, activities he takes part in, and the lessons he learns.  Using the websites listed below, you will learn more about Alaska to help build your background knowledge. 

Task:   Create a postcard describing things you've seen.  Be sure to answer the following questions, and place them in paragraph form.

Criteria for grading:

1.  You should use the paper given to you-- be sure you have answered the questions listed above. 

2.   Draw a picture on the back side, include an address and a "stamp" on your postcard too.  Your picture should be neat, attractive and relate to the topic.

3.  You should use correct grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
